Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a foundational skill that fosters well rounded development of the student creating an optimal learning base for all essential life skills such as cooperation, self-control, confidence, independence, curiosity, empathy, and communication within a safe and positive environment. The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) defines SEL as the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. The goal of SEL is to inspire and educate the students into becoming well grounded, confident, competent decision makers and put them on the path for success throughout their adult life.
We work with the school to empower teachers, school personnel and parents to promote a positive attitude towards learning using a pro active collaborative approach guided by evidence based strategies. The students learn how to manage stress, control emotions effectively, develop positive thinking and effective problem solving skills. SEL helps create a safe environment for strong relationships and lead the path to academic success. It has been proven to decrease maladjustment behaviors, reduce stress, anxiety and fear in turn to decrease emotional distress.
