Providing Social and Emotional (SEL) Support to At-Risk Students
Utilizing iTAAP to Reduce Suspension Rates
According to the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, "at-risk" students are those who exhibit behaviors or face challenges that may hinder their academic and social success. These students can struggle with emotional regulation, social interactions, or academic performance, which can lead to an increase in disciplinary issues or disengagement from school. iTAAP® identifies these at-risk students, allowing schools to develop appropriate measures and promote a positive school climate.

Plan for an Intervention
To create a tailored Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) plan for a student, please select the student's name and click "Start New SEL Survey." This survey is based on the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework, which focuses on key competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making. The insights gathered will guide the team to develop a comprehensive SEL program that effectively addresses the unique needs of each student, fostering their personal growth and overall well-being.

Continue to Track Progress
To ensure the effectiveness of the SEL program, it is essential to regularly assess the progress by repeating steps 1-4. A successful and effective plan should contribute to a reduction of the student's risk status and a decrease in overall suspension rates. If a student continues to be at-risk, please adjust the plan by incorporating alternative strategies, resources, or programs. Ongoing evaluation is crucial for fostering student well0being and promoting a positive school environment, in alignment with CASEL's commitment to evidence-based practices in SEL.
